Administrators
The Atlantic Union Conference administrative team comprises three executive officers and three vice presidents with a wealth of knowledge and experience in their field of expertise. They provide leadership for Seventh-day Adventist members who reside in the Northeast United States (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont), as well as the islands of Bermuda.
Executive Officers
Abraham J. Jules
Abraham J. Jules is president of the Atlantic Union Conference, a position to which he was elected on June 6, 2024, at a specially-called executive committee meeting. He is the 22nd president to serve the Atlantic Union Conference. His previous experience includes serving as Northeastern Conference president (2021-2024) and pastor in the Northeastern Conference for more than 36 years.
Ted A. Huskins
Ted A. Huskins is the executive secretary of the Atlantic Union Conference, a position to which he was elected on August 14, 2022, at the 31st Constituency Session of the Atlantic Union Conference. He will serve for the quinquennial term 2022-2026. Huskins was first elected as executive secretary by the Atlantic Union Conference Executive Committee at its regular quarterly meeting on February 15, 2022. He is the 17th executive secretary to serve the Atlantic Union Conference in its 120-year history. In his role, Huskins is responsible for the union’s administrative operations, policy implementation, human relations, and other administrative functions. His previous experience includes serving the Northern New England Conference as president (June 2020-February 2021) and executive secretary (2014-2020).
Elias F. Zabala, Sr.
Elias F. Zabala, Sr., is treasurer of the Atlantic Union Conference, a position to which he was elected on August 14, 2022, at the 31st Constituency Session of the Atlantic Union Conference. He will serve for the quinquennial term 2022-2026. Zabala was previously elected to serve as treasurer at the June 19, 2016, constituency session of the Atlantic Union Conference. He is the 17th treasurer to serve the Atlantic Union Conference. His previous experience includes serving the New York Conference as president (June 2014-June 2016), executive secretary/treasurer (January 2013-June 2014). and treasurer (July 2010-June 2014).
Vice Presidents
Henry Beras
Henry Beras is vice president for Hispanic and Portuguese Ministries, a position to which he was elected at the 31st constituency session of the Atlantic Union Conference on August 14, 2022. He will serve for the quinquennial term 2022-2026. He is the fourth Hispanic and Portuguese Ministries vice president to serve the Atlantic Union Conference. He previously served the Greater New York Conference as president (2016-2022) and executive secretary (July 2014-June 2016).
Jose Joseph
Jose Joseph is vice president for Haitian and African Ministries, a position to which he was elected at the 31st constituency of the Atlantic Union Conference on August 14, 2022. He will serve for the quinquennial term 2022-2026. Joseph was first elected to serve as vice president for Haitian and African Ministries at the June 19, 2016, Atlantic Union Conference constituency session. He is the fourth Haitian and African Ministries vice president to serve the Atlantic Union Conference. He previously served as Haitian Ministries coordinator for the Northeastern Conference.
Marlene Alvarez
Marlene Alvarez is the vice president education. She was elected as the education director at the 31st constituency of the Atlantic Union Conference on August 14, 2022. On September 20, 2023, at the third-quarter meeting, the Atlantic Union Conference Executive Committee voted her title change to vice president of education. She is serving for the quinquennial term 2022-2026. Alvarez previously served as associate education director, a position to which she was elected at the 2016 Atlantic Union Conference Constituency Session.
