Adventist Single Adult Ministries Convention
September 19-21, 2014
The Atlantic Union and North American Division are sponsoring an Adventist Single Adult Ministries Convention with Carlton Byrd, speaker/director for Breath of Life Ministries. All single adults are invited to attend.
Fee includes materials and meals.
Early Bird: $120.00 per person (until August 15)

Dr. Carlton P. Byrd—Dr. Carlton P. Byrd is currently the senior pastor of the Oakwood University Seventh-day Adventist Church on the campus of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, and the speaker/ director of the Breath of Life Television Broadcast for the Adventist Church in North America.
In his 20 of pastoral leadership in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, and Georgia, Dr. Byrd has constructed and renovated churches, baptized more than 3,000 persons, served on numerous denominational and community boards, along with serving as a guest minister on several religious television networks.
A very active participant in the community, Dr. Byrd founded the Berean Outreach Ministry Center in Atlanta, Georgia, which is a community based ministry that houses a youth activity center, barbershop, beauty salon, health/fitness center, vegetarian sandwich shop, clothes closet, and food pantry. Additionally, under Dr. Byrd’s leadership during his pastorate at the Atlanta Berean church, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $5.2 million grant to the church, and the church constructed a 50 apartment senior citizens housing facility for church and community senior adults alike.
Since his arrival at the Oakwood University church in January 2012, Dr. Byrd has already baptized more than 300 persons and spearheaded the renovation of the Oakwood University church, along with serving as the building chairperson for the newly constructed 5.4 million dollar Oakwood Adventist Academy housing students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12.
The recipient of numerous honors and achievements, Dr. Byrd received the coveted “Chosen Pastor Award” for Atlanta’s Gospel Choice Awards in 2007 was selected as the Oakwood University alumnus of the year for 2008, and in April 2008 he was inducted into the Martin Luther King Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Byrd is happily married to his wife of 16 years, the former Danielle Mounter, and they are the proud parents of three girls, Christyn, Caileigh, and Carissa.
Ms. Andrea Hicks—Ms. Hicks is from Trenton, New Jersey. She the founder of F.O.C.U.S. Ministries (Fellowship Of Christians Unique and Single). Her passion for singles ministry was brought about through circumstance. Through divorce she began to see the need for this life-changing ministry. In the fall of 1997 a job opportunity relocated her to New York. She has been actively involved with single adult ministry since 2001.
F.O.C.U.S. Ministries came into existence in 2001 at the Mount Sinai Seventh-day Adventist Church in Queens Village, New York. F.O.C.U.S. Ministries is now a team of dedicated single adults who plan such exciting functions as retreats, cruises, picnics, lunches, bowling, and mixers with ASAM’s from other Seventh-day Adventist churches and other Christian churches throughout the New York tri-state area and abroad. Ms. Hicks also volunteers as an assistant for ASAM in the Atlantic Union Conference.
Chaplain Jasmine Johnson—Chaplain Johnson is from Pacific Grove/Monterey, California. Her Alma Mater is Virginia Tech, B.S. in psychology, and B.S.in international studies. Upon answering the call to ministry, she graduated from The Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University with a B.S. in world religions and a Master of Divinity. She currently serves as a U. S. Army active duty chaplain.
Chaplain Johnson believes that volunteering in the community helps to strengthen the character of the individual, while building a stronger community. Chaplain Johnson’s efforts were featured on the local news for raising 23,552 pounds of canned food.
Chaplain Johnson’s calling has led her all around the world, Zimbabwe, Zambia, London, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Laos. Chaplain John son exemplifies the motto “Service to All Mankind.”
Mr. Michael Carducci—Mr. Carducci, director of EXCEED Ministry and co-founder of Coming Out Ministries. Mr. Carducci is a ministry leader addressing his history from living in the homosexual culture, and being sexually addicted for more than 20 years. Accepting Jesus Christ was the beginning of a discovery of healing, as he learned the biblical process of cleansing and restoration through a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. Being introduced to God for the first time as Jesus proved His enduring love and dedication, and showing Mr. Carducci how to live in a world of temptation. Learning the process of true surrender and experiencing peace in his life on a moment by moment basis, and discovering victorious overcoming power from his past. Mr. Carducci shares his tools for overcoming and helps guide others to Christ as he reveals his game plan, for addressing the brokenness of the past, and how to achieve healing through a solid dependence on Jesus Christ.Adult Single Adventist Ministries Convention Schedule

Title: “Becoming A Man”
Mr. Michael Carducci will be taking you on a journey out of the darkness of his sexual addiction and homosexuality. Michael will be talking about his discovery of Jesus in an intimate relationship, and what that looked like coming back into Adventist culture. He will also address the recent movement in the world of Christian homosexuality, and there will be a lively Q&A following the presentation.
